A committee of French Street area business and property owners, with the support of the nonprofit organization New Brunswick Tomorrow, are pleased to issue a report recommending the formation of a Special Improvement District (SID) for this vibrant, unique New Brunswick commercial corridor. This report and recommendation follow a six-month planning process that engaged French Street area businesses, property owners, and residents, as well as City officials, to evaluate the potential of a SID to further advance the improvement of this corridor for the benefit of all those who live, work, and visit here.

The recommendation to establish a French Street Special Improvement District also recognizes the vital role of the City Market Special Improvement District in revitalizing New Brunswick's downtown since its creation in 1987.

We expect the New Brunswick City Council to consider an ordinance to establish a French Street SID in March.
