Announcing the French Street District Board of Directors

The French Street Corridor District Improvement Corporation, the entity formed to administer the French Street Special Improvement District (SID), is pleased to announce its inaugural Board of Directors. These members represent a cross-section of constituents who share a vision of a vibrant, welcoming, and distinctive French Street corridor that serves the needs of residents and businesses while attracting new visitors and customers to enjoy French Street's rich culture, cuisine, and community.
French Street Board of Directors (alphabetical order):
- Amanda Alvarado: Community Representative, district resident
- Yuny Alvarenga: Business Representative, New Millennium Bank; New Brunswick Business Community Alliance
- Jennise Amparo: Business Owner, Garnet Graphic Solutions
- Jovanny Belisario: Community Representative, New Brunswick Tomorrow
- Hussain Burhanpurwala: Property Owner
- Danielle Diaz: Business Owner, Pizza City
- Michael Drullis, City Business Administrator, Mayoral appointee
- Rebecca Escobar, City Council member, Council appointee
- Emanuel Garcia: Business Owner, La Guelaguetza

Board members applied through a public application and nomination process and were selected based on their commitment, relevant skills and experience, and past involvement with French Street corridor improvement efforts.
The inaugural Board consists of 15 members, consistent with the SID enabling ordinance passed in May. However, in keeping with the district planning committee's commitment, the Board has asked the City to amend the ordinance in the near future to add two additional community representative seats, bringing the total number of Board seats to 17.
The Board has also selected inaugural officers to serve temporary terms until full-term officers can be appointed among the Board. The inaugural officers are:
- Chairperson: Maria Garcia
- Vice-Chairperson and Secretary: Danielle Diaz
- Treasurer: Ting Zhou
The members of the French Street District Board of Directors are excited to work together with the many constituents of the district to advance shared priorities for the improvement of the French Street corridor. All who live, work, or have a property or business in the SID are invited to join our efforts and may participate in several open committees of the District Improvement Corporation.
